About Old Home Day
Charlton’s Old Home Day celebration is held annually in September on Labor Day. It has been celebrated continuously for over 100 years!
At the turn of the century, townspeople would gather for a few hours to socialize while contemplating the pending change in seasons from summer to fall.
Over time it has evolved into a full day of fun and socializing.
The present day celebration includes a soap box derby race, high school reunions, a 5 mile running race, bed races up and down Main St, and musical chairs.
The Common is filled with civic organizations providing food, games, and artist’s displays. The celebration concludes with a parade and a presentation of awards including one for Charlton’s “Citizen of the Year”.
